Two rebel candidates withdraw candidacy in Lalitpur

LALITPUR, Oct 9: Two rebel candidates, one each from Nepali Congress and UCPN (Maoist), who filed their candidacies against the official candidate of the party for the November 19 Constituent Assembly (CA) election, have withdrawn their nomination.



Ganesh KC had filed his independent candidature from Lalitpur Constituency No. 1 against the NC´s official candidate Udaya Shumsher Rana while Janak Thapa had registered his nomination from Constituency No. 2 against UCPN (Maoist)´s candidate Saroj Singh Dangol.[break]



According to Chief Election Officer Tek Narayan Kunwar, besides the two, Chandra Bahadur Maharjan of Nepal Nyayik Dal from constituency-1, Suresh Maharjan of Sadbhavana Party United and independent candidate Bikas Shrestha from constituency-2 had also withdrawn their candidacy.



With the withdrawal of candidacies from different candidates, total 110 candidates are so far in the fray of CA election from three constituencies of Lalitpur district.



Of total 110 enlisted as final candidates, 16 are women and 94 are male.
