Their bodies were found at 2 p.m. in the Charpala jungle, one-and-a-half km northeast of the temporary camp in Sainamaina.
Bohara was found wearing a black T-shirt and combat trousers. He had scars on his face and his nose and ears were bleeding. Neupane was found wearing a red T-shirt and blue pants and his face was bleeding, Area Police Office Butwal said. Their bodies have been sent to Lumbini Zonal Hospital in Butwal for postmortem.
A villager grazing his cattle had informed the cantonments after seeing the dead bodies in combat uniform.
The two had been out of contact since Wednesday afternoon, Brigade Commander of Krishnasen Memorial Brigade Kamala Naharki said. “They had not checked out while leaving the camp,” she said. Naharki added that they found their mobile phones switched off when they tried to contact them after not finding them in the evening roll call.
She said Neupane and Bohara could have been murdered.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Dan Bahadur Karki said the two could have been killed by hitting sensitive organs but everything would be revealed only after the investigation.
