DHADING, June 7: Two people have gone missing after a Kathmandu-bound tanker carrying milk veered off the road and fell some 65 meters down into the Trishuli River at Jyamireghat, Jogimara-9 along the Privthvi Highway here in the district, on Thursday night.

The missing people are the driver Chhatra Bahadur Thapa of Sarlahi, but currently residing in Butwal, and a passenger, whose identity is not known yet, said Bal Krishna Bhatta, a police sub inspector at the Majimtar police station. [break]

Police said Thapa’s assistant Prakash Poudel was rescued alive. He has been taken to Kathmandu for treatment. The search for the missing is underway. Police believes the tanker (Ga 1 Gha 544) coming from Butwal met with the mishap due to a slippery road.
