The deceased are Sumitra Dhami, 14, of Dekhatbhuli VDC-8 and Sharada Khatri, 12, of ward no. 9 of the same VDC, according to the Area Police Office, Krishnapur.
Sub Inspector at the Area Police Office, Gulariya, Basudev Awasthi said incident took place when the girls were taking bath in the river.
