KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Two girls died after drowning in Rapti River.
Among the deceased are Kanchan Tharu, 22 and Archana Tharu, 13, residents of Fattepur (Danda Tepri) Ward No 6 of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality. The two had reached Rapti to collect bayar (Indian jujube). They had left home on Saturday to collect the fruit and disappeared after drowning in Rapti.

The bodies of both the deceased were found in Rapti river on Sunday morning with the effort of Nepal Police, Armed Police and local residents.
The in-charge of Fattehpur (b) Temporary Police Station and Sub-Inspector of Police Yam Bahadur Basnet informed Republica that the bodies of both the missing persons have been found.
He said that preparations are being made to send the body to Nepalgunj for post-mortem. According to the police, seven young women of the village had gone to collect Indian jujube fruit. Among them, five people managed to survive by swimming in the river, but two people went missing.
