KAILALI, July 28: A couple died after being buried in a landslide at Salli of Duhu Rural Municipality-3 in Darchula district on Tuesday morning.
Ram Datta Joshi, 50, and his wife Indra Devi Joshi, 45, died after the landslide struck from the newly constructed road above their house at around 5 am. The Joshi couple went missing inside the landslide debris as their house was completely buried by the rain-triggered landslide. Their bodies were recovered from the debris after 12 hours, said DSP Padam Bahadur Bista.
Their 21-year-old son Sunil Joshi, however, remained unscathed in the incident. He fled from the house to safety as soon as the incident occurred. His parents had entered the house to take money though they had earlier fled the scene.
