Two arrested on charge of online fraud

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: Police have arrested two “fraudsters” on the charge of duping people through social media.

KATHMANDU, Jan 17: Police have arrested two “fraudsters” on the charge of duping people through social media.


The arrested have been identified as Pramod Shah Teli, 28, of Parsa district, and Mewalal Shah Teli, 39, also of Parsa district.

“The arrested persons issued advertisements claiming to sell electronic items at cheaper prices. After finding customers through social media, the arrested used to ask for online payments. After receiving the payments, they used to abscond,” said police.


The arrested advertised to sell computers, mobile phones, laptops, cameras, among other electronic items.


The Lalitpur District Court has already remanded the arrested into custody, allowing the police to investigate the case.
