KATHMANDU, April 4: Dhanusha police have arrested 23 people on the charge of being involved in online fraud.
Online fraud cases rise by 307 percent
The team from Dhanusha District Police Office arrested them on Monday evening from the premises of Burger House located at the Janakpur Dham Chowk. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police of Dhanusha Police Office, Bed Prasad Gautam, they were arrested upon information obtained about their involvement in online fraud. Police said they operated from a rented flat at the Chowk.
DSP Gautam mentioned that they were engaged in various fraudulent activities through different apps. Upon their arrest, 14 men and 9 women were taken into custody. Gautam further added that further investigation into the matter is underway, and more details will be disclosed in due time.
