Two arrested for impersonating CID officials in Kapilvastu

According to police, the accused duo conducted a search operation of the residence, during which they stole Rs 17,000. Upon receiving information regarding the incident, authorities initiated a search for the suspects and arrested them in Rajpur, Banganga Municipality-2 at a local sports field on February 8.

KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Police arrested two individuals on Saturday on the charges of defrauding the general public by impersonating as officers CID.


According to the District Police Office (DPO), Kapilvastu, two individuals, Rishi Ram Ghimire, 32, from Pipra, Banganga Municipality-2, and Jeevan Thapa, 32, from Kaptaiya, entered the home of a local resident in Banganga Municipality at around 12:00 pm on the February 6 and 7, claiming to be CID officials from the Area Police Office, Pipra.

According to police, the accused duo conducted a search operation of the residence, during which they stole Rs 17,000. Upon receiving information regarding the incident, authorities initiated a search for the suspects and arrested them in Rajpur, Banganga Municipality-2 at a local sports field on February 8.


Police presented them before the Kapilvastu District Court and the court extended their judicial custody for five days on February 9. Investigations are ongoing regarding the fraud charges against them.
