KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Police have arrested two individuals on charges of defrauding victims of large amounts of money by falsely promising to send them abroad for employment in America and Malta. The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office of Nepal Police made the arrests following complaints from the victims.
The first suspect, Purna Bahadur Giri, 49, originally from Pakhribas Municipality-8, Dhankuta, and currently residing in Gokarneshwar, Kathmandu, allegedly collected Rs 2.4 million from three individuals, claiming that he would send them to America. Police arrested him from Teku, Kathmandu, on Tuesday.
Nepal beats Malta in Olympiad
In a separate case, Misan Gurung, 20, from Majhuwagadhi Municipality-6, Diktel, Rupakot, and currently living in Surya Binayak, Bhaktapur, reportedly swindled another individual of Rs 305,000 with the promise of employment in Malta.
Both individuals are in police custody for further investigation.
