BHIMDUTTANAGAR, Sept 9: Police here today have arrested two Nepali youths who shot an Indian national on Thursday night at Bhimduttanagar-Gaddachauki section of Kanchanpur along the East West Highway.
The arrested are Karan Singh Bhandari, 17, of Bhimdutta Municipality-9 and 21-year-old Bikram Nath of the same locality, according to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur.
They had shot Jagat Singh Chauhan, official of the Employees' Union Association of India's Department of Irrigation, India on his arms and back while he was riding to Indian bordering town in his motorcycle, police said.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raghunath Bhandari, both the arrested youths are staffers at the Sharada Barrage.
A team of police personnel deployed by the Area Police Office, Gadda Chauki nabbed them the two from Jimuwa area in Bhimdutta Municipality. A set of pistol and knife were also seized from them.
The injured Indian national has been brought to District Police Office, Kanchanpur after medical intervention.
Further investigation into the case was underway while the preliminary investigation shows that the shooting was aimed at robbing off the Indian national, police said. (RSS)
