Turnover declines to Rs 3.49 billion as NEPSE sheds 1.66 points

KATHMANDU, Dec 11: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday decreased marginally by 1.66 points to close at 2,607.37 points.



The secondary market opened at 2,609.03 points, initially falling to the day’s low at 2,602.6 points in the first 10 minutes, before hitting as high as 2,612 points in the next 55 minutes. In the following less than an hour, the index again declined sharply to 2,603.61 points, while the market hovered around this mark until the last two minutes. The market recovered only around three points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

As manufacturing and processing added the largest of 75.83 points, four other groups including life insurance, microfinance, trading and banking were among the gainers. Of the eight losers, hotels and tourism plunged by the largest of 38.30 points.


The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies increased 0.11 points. The daily turnover further declined to Rs 3.49 billion from Rs 3.73 billion. 


Among the individual companies, 98 were gainers while 149 were recorded as losers. Ngadi Group Power Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 189.71 million.


Muktinath Krishi Company Limited had the highest fall of 8.42 percent in its market price. Swastik Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, by gaining 10 percent, was listed as the highest gainer.
