KATHMANDU, Feb 17: Professors of Tribhuvan University (TU) have staged a protest against the lockout by the Nepal Students Union stating that 200 days have passed since the office of the Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University has been locked.

The professors protested by holding placards with slogans such as Lockout is not the solution, it is the problem, Let's make the university a lockout-free zone, how long will the lockout be in the university, let's unite for the betterment of the university. They staged a 15-minute peaceful sit-in in front of the university's Registrar’s Office.

Similarly, the professors said that even though the problem could be solved easily, some hidden motives have created major problems for students as well as teachers to continue the teaching and learning activities. They argued that the problems of the university would never be solved if various student organizations continue to lock the VC’s Office for their own interests.

The student wing of the ruling Nepali Congress has been locking the VC’s Office of the university for a long time, demanding educational reforms.
