KATHMANDU, June 13: The offices of the office-bearers of Tribhuvan University (TU) have resumed after padlocks on them were removed after 140 days.
Nepal Students Union, the student wing of the ruling Nepali Congress and part-time teachers had padlocked the offices of TU Vice Chancellor, Registrar and Rector since 21 January, putting forth various demands.
Following requests from various quarters, the protesters removed the padlocks on June 12. Earlier, lawmakers attending a session of the House of Representatives and the All Nepal National Free Students Union urged the removal of the padlocks.
TU Registrar Prof Dr Peshal Dahal confirmed the resumption of the offices on a regular basis from today. "The padlocks were removed yesterday. We will resume work regularly from today."
