Truck owner to provide Rs 700,000 to victims of Kalanki accident

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: The kin of Sanu Bhattarai and Grishma Thapa, who were killed in a road accident on Wednesday evening, and owner of the truck (Na 2 Kha 2167) that ran over the duo reached an agreement on Thursday. The agreement was reached after the truck owner pledged to provide Rs 700,000 to the kin of Bhattarai, 39, and Thapa, 22, each.



The truck ran over the two women at Dhungeadda near Kalanki at 8:15 pm on Wednesday while they were heading home on a scooter from China Town in Sundhara.



The situation at TU Teaching Hospital turned tense Thursday evening when the kin of the deceased staged protests demanding postmortem of the bodies on time. Later, they were calmed down after the officials at the hospital agreed to conduct the postmortem on time.
