Transport services halted on Mechi Highway

ILAM, Jan 11: Transport entrepreneurs´ associations of Ilam and Jhapa districts obstructed the Mechi Highway on Wednesday accusing police officials of Kiteni, Kolbung of thrashing a driver as well as passengers of a bus.



According to the entrepreneurs, police had beaten up the driver Samir Rai, assistant driver Bir Bahadur Khatri and the passengers of the bus (Me 1 khaa 1367) on Tuesday evening.



Both Rai and Khatri are undergoing treatment at the Kanchanjhanga Hospital, Jhapa.



The reason behind the thrashing is yet to be known.
