MANGALBARE (ILAM), Oct 6: The work to repair the Maikhola-Bhanjyang section of the Mechi Highway has been stopped following another landslide. The road section was damaged by a landslide a few days ago.
The ongoing restoration work has been stopped since Saturday evening due to the risk of more damage following a landslide. The Divisional Road Office has said that the maintenance work has been suspended due to continuous landslides.
Traffic resumes on Mechi Highway after 19 hours
With this road section remaining blocked for traffic, travelers are forced to make alternative arrangements to go to Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung.
Meanwhile, efforts are being made to develop the Godak-Jogmai Khola-Tilkeki road as an alternative to this road section of the Mechi Highway.
