Traffic resumes on Mechi Highway after 19 hours

KATHMANDU, July 28: The Taplejung section of the Mechi Highway, which was blocked due to a dry landslide at Phungling Municipality-8, has now resumed operations after 19 hours.

KATHMANDU, July 28: The Taplejung section of the Mechi Highway, which was blocked due to a dry landslide at Phungling Municipality-8, has now resumed operations after 19 hours.


Near Khokse on the Dokhu-Nangkholyang road section of Taplejung, the road was blocked due to a landslide with huge rocks falling from above on Baishakhe cliff.

According to the Road Division Office, Ilam, the highway was blocked throughout the day on Thursday due to a landslide that covered the entire road within a distance of about 30 meters.


Nabin Upreti, supervisor of the Road Division Office, Ilam, said that after the landslide blocked the highway, the road office managed to remove the blockage by 9 PM.


As the highway has been reopened, the traffic that was stopped all day yesterday is heading towards their respective destinations.
