Toxic mushroom death toll reaches five

CHITWAN, June 1: Death toll of poisonous mushroom consumption reached five after Mangali Maya Praja, 5, and Manju Maya Praja, 17, died during treatment at Bharatpur Medical College, Chitwan on Tuesday.



Three persons of a family in remote Kanda village in Lothar VDC-9 had died after consuming poisonous mushrooms on Monday. [break]



The family of Baburam Chepang, 65, fell ill after having wild mushrooms for dinner Friday evening.



Baburam, his wife Moti Maya, 60, and their three and half years old granddaughter Aita Maya died while Baburam´s sons Purna Bahadur, 23, and Jeet Bahadur, 20, and their wives Sarita Maya, 20, Baburam´s daughter Geeta Maya, a son of Purna Bahadur and Baburam´s 58-year-old second wife have fallen ill.



Gita Maya Praja is in critical condition on Tuesday, doctor said.
