RASUWA, Oct 12: More than 19 thousand tourists from 52 countries have entered Nepal from Rasuwagadi, according to the district's immigration office's data. The data compiles arrivals from January to September 2018. Of them, 56.38% are Chinese, Laxmi Prasad Sharma, a staffer at the immigration office said.
Revenue generation from Rasuwagadi plummets
The number of tourists entering from Rasuwagadi has increased after China declared it to be one of its international border points. From January through September, the number of Chinese tourists rose from 500 to 4,000, according to data at the immigration office. After Chinese tourists, Swedish and Americans top the arrival list.
The immigration office provides a month's visa-on-arrival. "We can provide 150 days visa to Chinese tourists," Man Bahadur Baral, information officer said. However, majority of the tourists have their visas stamped from China itself.
