Totalitarianism would be overcome through street protests: Khanal

KIRTIPUR, Feb 9: CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal has said the totalitarianism would be defeated through the street protests.



Inaugurating the second convention of the CPN-UML Rapti Zonal Liaison Committee at party headquarters on Saturday, the UML Chairman accused the current government of practising totalitarianism.[break]



He also said that country´s present politics was vertically divided in two forces—democratic and totalitarian and unity among all democratic forces was inevitable against the totalitarian thought of the current government.



Saying that the history has proved the failure of violent politics in the country, the UML Chairman pledged to meet people´s expectations through a peaceful manner.



Also speaking at the same program, UML leader Prakash Jwala elections to the constituent assembly (CA) were required to institutionalize the achievements of the revolutions. Replacement of the government is a condition for holding the CA elections, he said.



UML leaders Gangalal Tuladhar, Sunita Shakya, Laxman KC and Pabitra Gharti Magar among others expressed their opinions during the programme.
