TMDP leader shot dead

MAHOTTARI, Sept 20: An unidentified group shot dead Rajaram Yadav, a leader of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP), in Aurahi village of Mahottari district at 1 am, Monday.



Police said Yadav was shot when he was having snacks at night after watching a drama in the village. Yadav, 40, died on the spot after receiving a bullet on the back of his head.[break]



Police have recovered a US-made pistol, five rounds of bullets and Rs 50,000 from the spot. Police said they are yet to trace the murderers.



Meanwhile, one Basanta of the underground outfit Tarai Mukti Morcha telephoned local media and owned up to the murder.
