Tihar gifts to give

For your dearest brothers

As Tihar rolls around, all of you who have brothers are probably wracking your brains trying to come up with a gift that lets him know you appreciate him.

I’m sure you –and your brother, too – are tired of the usual CDs, chocolate and cologne. So this year, show your brother some love by getting him something he actually needs and will use.[break]

Beauty products

Just because he’s a man boy doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a beauty routine. So make a gift basket with everything he’ll need to look his best in the mornings. Your hamper could include items ranging from cologne, shaving cream, and hair gel to lotions, bath products, deodorants, and even clippers!

There is a plethora of great hairstyles for guys; so take your brother for a fancy haircut that he won’t get on his own but that he’ll surly appreciate.

Transportation

Pay a portion of your brother’s motorbike installment so he can spend that money on you!

Get an updated helmet so that he’s safer on the roads.

Offer to pimp his ride by getting a paintjob or getting cosmetic work done on his bike or car.

Subscriptions

Magazines – A whole world of magazines exists for guys; so make sure your brother isn’t left out of the world of informed men. Subscribe to National Geographic, GQ, Esquire, The Rolling Stone – all based on his interest.

Newspapers – Make your brother more desirable (to other girls) and interesting by making sure he’s informed on what’s happening locally and internationally through a subscription to Republica National Daily which, to say again, happens to be the very newspaper you’re reading right now!

Gadgets

You can always get another phone or computer, but saving the hassle of lost music and files would be priceless. All you’ll have to do is shell out enough for an external hard drive or for something more cost effective, get him a flash drive with a lot of storage space. It will outlast any gadget in the market and be useful for years to come!

Clothes

Staying updated on street fashion can be challenging so get your brother a suit! A tailored suit transcends years and several occasions, plus, guys aren’t as willing to get one for themselves so you could be the catalyst to making him clean up good!

Getaways

Give you brother something to show off by paying for an adventure sport. With sports like paragliding, bungee jumping and rafting easily available, give him an experience he’ll never forget.

Workouts

Being self-conscious isn’t limited to girls; so a gym membership might be all it would take to get your brother looking and feeling better. If he’s too lazy, a few dumbbells might do the trick to getting him to flex in front of the mirror.

For your beloved sisters

It’s that time of year when sisters look forward to presents and gifts from their brothers. This year, outdo yourself and be the best brother by showering your sister/s with gifts that differ from the usual:

Beauty services

No doubt your sister wants to be beautiful, and although that means more guys for you to chase away, here are a few ideas to make your sister the prettiest girl in town:

Spa – Treat your sister to a day at the spa. A body massage will get her feeling relaxed and beautiful! You could even buy her a spa gift basket so she can pamper herself at home.

Manicure/pedicure – Give her fingers and toes a little extra love by going under the file and nail polish of a professional.

Haircut – New styles keep popping up; so let your sister be trendy with a new hairdo.

Makeup – If your sister is experimenting with new makeup, take her to someone who can show her what colors and look suit her so she can go about town looking her best!

Transportation

Scooter installment – Help your sister pay for her scootie! This way she’ll get her payments out of the way faster and can cruise the streets more freely.

Helmet – Buy a helmet that’s more in style and in a color that your sister will love!

Accessories – As winter creeps up, your sister may need a warm jacket or gloves for the biting wind on her scootie, or to evade the cracks on the micros and buses!

Driving lessons – Pay for driving lessons – it’s a good skill for everyone to have! – or offer to teach her to drive so you can have some good one-on-on sibling time.

Subscriptions

Magazines – Keep your sister updated on the latest styles, celebrity gossips, women’s topics or politics by getting her a subscription to a magazine that she’s interested in, like Vogue, Vanity Fair, Intelligent Life, and Time.

Newspapers – make your sister the most updated girl around by getting her a subscription to Republica National Daily – which happens to be this very newspaper, ahem! – so she knows the ins and outs of Nepal and the world.

Clothes

Anything in the store is up for grabs, but getting your sister tailored clothes in styles she picks up will make her unique and give her the extra flair that Made-in-China or Thailand products could never deliver.

Getaways

No doubt your sister’s curfew hours are a little tight; so arrange a day or two to get away for her. A package deal to places like Chitwan or Pokhara will take care of everything and will make her the envy of her friends.

Workouts

After Dashain, your sister is probably worried about those few extra kgs she put on. So help her get back in shape and stay healthy by signing her up for a yoga class. If she doesn’t have time for that, there are several workout videos available for your sister to watch and burn those calories at home!
