Assistant Chief District Office and coordinator of the monitoring team, Tulasi Ram Pandey, said that the sealed polyclinics and pharmacies can operate only after fulfilling due process of registration.
Karmada Hospital at Siudibazzar has also been sealed for a few days.
According to Pandey, the hospital has been shut for the few days as its license is one the way to the DAO as Regional Health Directorate in Pokhara has already dispatched the approval letter for the hospital.
Trilochan Gurung, Public Health Superintendent, said that sealed polyclinics were found to be registered in Company Registrar´s Office but had not acquired the mandatory license from the Health Directorate. The monitoring team also found date expired and sub standard medicine being sold from the pharmacies.
However, the locals claimed that the DAO has not paid its heed toward the dozens of such unauthorized pharmacies and polyclinics at Paudi, Sotipasal, Duipiple, Bhorletar, Tarkughat, Tinpiple,Khudi and Bhulbhule areas.
The team also seized large quantity of substandard goods being sold in the local markets.
