Janakpur, Feb 18: Stakeholders have underlined the need for effective coordination and cooperation among all three tiers of government for the conservation of the Chure region.
During a discussion organized at Janakpurdham here Monday, Minister for Communications and Law at the province, Raj Kumar Lekhi, said the water sources were drying up in Madhes districts due to Chure degradation. It warrants effective coordination and cooperation among all tiers of government to restore Chure's environment, he stressed.
According to him, it is urgent to adopt meaningful climate action to mitigate adversity caused by climate impacts.

Ministry secretary Uddhav Prasad Rijal said the weather had seen erratic patterns this year—a decline in cold spells and no rainfall in winter. The dry season will have more incidents of fire if this trend continues, he warned.
He also sought all sides' cooperation for effective climate action. Rijal argued it is climate change causing the deterioration of the Chure region.
On the occasion, environmentalist Madhusudan Gautam made public a study report on climate change adaptation and disaster risk management in Madhesh districts. He pointed out insufficient preparedness to cope with natural disasters in Madhesh.
Deputy Director General at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Archana Shrestha, reminded that the department had forecast weather patterns time and again, which worked to minimize loss of lives and property. The department was expanding its structures in Madhesh, she informed.
Member of the Province Policy and Planning Commission in Madhesh, Dr Shila Mishra, said Madhesh is at the forefront of climate change, which requires collective efforts for a solution.
