Three Chinese nationals arrested with 15 kilos of psychotropic substances

KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) has arrested three Chinese nationals with 15 kilos (24 packets) of psychotropic substances near the International Airport on Wednesday.



According to SP Pitambar Adhikary at the CIB, the arrested Chinese nationals were involved in smuggling the controlled drugs to China and many other countries from Nepal. [break]



“The trio has been sent to Baneswor-based Narcotic Drugs Control Bureau for further investigation,” Adhikary told Republica Online.



The police have identified them as; Yang Chengquan (45), Yang Muchang (41) and Zheng Xu Ming (43), who hail from Fujian of China.



In a statement on Wednesday, the CIB said that the arrested Chinese nationals might serve jail for two to 10 years and fined up to Rs 2 million in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs (Control) Act, 2033, if found guilty.
