“The Tibetan issues are used by some forces against China and the Nepal government always understands what [is] happening behind that,” said the envoy said at a function organized by Reporters´ Club Nepal in Kathmandu on Sunday.[break]
The Chinese envoy, however, did not specify what he meant by the “international forces”.
The Chinese envoy also appreciated Nepal for its stance regarding Tibet issue and urged Nepal to continue to address Chinese concerns. “This is also important for regional stability and development,” he added.
Saying that Nepal-India should have a cordial relationship, the Chinese envoy further added that China wants to have a good “tri-lateral relationship”. “The relation between China-India is not complicated as hyped by the media,” stated Yang.
Yang informed that China has been holding talks with Nepali side for a high level visit from China. “We have been holding talks at the diplomatic level in this regard. We will inform you once we find a convenient date for the visit,” added Yang.
Chinese prime minister´s visit to Nepal is expected very soon and sources at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister told Republica that the visit would take place after the proposed visit of Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha to China. Shrestha is likely to visit China after the prime minister´s India visit.
On the controversy involving Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation (APEC), an NGO, the envoy clarified that the project for developing Lumbini as a global centre for Buddhism study was the initiative of APEC and urged not to misconstrue the project as Chinese interference.
However, the envoy said China is ready to provide assistance to such projects in Nepal if the latter so wants, Yang said.
