The first Nepali Hollywood Film set to hit theaters

The promotion of the movie ‘The Man from Kathmandu’ is gaining much pace with its release date nearing. Directed in Nepali as well as in English, the film production team has tried to shed light on film’s background through promotions via organizing press conference in Itahari, Pokhara, Biratnagar and Birtamod.

The lead actors for the film, Anna Sharma and Karma Shakya along with film producer Nakim Uddin participated on the film’s promotional tour. Nakim further stated that the film shall be released within the country in Nepali and worldwide in English. “We have attempted to make the film in multiple languages in order to preserve and promote Nepali films in the international arena,” said Uddin. “Since the film is based on true events, we have tried out best not to distort the facts in any way. Although the film simply depicts love story, I believe viewers shall entertain the whole of set of martial arts that the film brings along,” he added.

As per Uddin, the film reflects upon the journey of an American Nepali who visits Nepal and gets fascinated by the cultures of the country. One of the lead actors, Shakya expressed to have a delightful opportunity to learn new things from his Indian and Pakistani co-actors. Meanwhile, essaying the character of Sher Thapa in the film, he further stated that that the film has something new to offer to the viewers.

One of the other lead actors, Sharma confirmed that ‘The Man from Kathmandu’ is a family movie. “I am essaying the role of a social activist in the film. The film is packed with romance and action and is a complete entertainer if one is watching with family members,” said Sharma.

Pema Dhondup’s directorial film features Anna Sharma, Karma Shakya, Neer Shah, Shishir Bangdel, Amir Gautam, Paramita Rana along with American actor Jose Manuel, Bollywood actor Gulshan Grover, Pakistani actor Hameed Sheikh among others.

The film is set to hit the theaters on March 15.
