As the deadline for filing candidacy ended on Wednesday, 22 people are vying for the post of vice president. All eight vice-presidents of the current executive committee, namely Lalit Krishna Shrestha, Kishor Rai, Bijay Narayan Manandhar, Narendra Shrestha, Mahesh Bista, Kumar Jung Thapa, Karma Chhiring Sherpa and Sunil Kapali are contesting for another term.
Likewise, members of the current committee, namely Sunil SJB Rana, Kiran Rai, Basant Aryal, Hari Prasad Shrestha, Deepak Khati, Mani Kunwar, Ganesh Bahadur Chand, Gobardan Singh Samjhana, Deepak Lamsal, Bir Bahadur Khadka, Suresh Prasad Ligal, and Ganesh Bahadur Bhattarai have also filed candidacy for vice president. Meanwhile, Friends Club President Ratna Shamsher Rana and MB Gurung are also contesting for the post.
For the post of 22 executive committee members, 37 people have filed their candidacies.
ANFA has a provision of electing a president, eight vice presidents and 22 executive committee members through the general assembly while the president and executive committee appoint general secretary, treasurer and other office bearers.
All the 45 district associations, 14 A division clubs cast a vote each in the election while B division clubs have five and C division clubs have three votes. Likewise, Players Association, Coaches Association, Referee Association and the Women´s Committee within ANFA have rights to cast a vote each in the election.
