Rajendra Pandey elected unopposed as senior vice-chairman of Unified Socialist

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Rajendra Pandey has been elected unopposed as the senior vice-chairman of the CPN (Unified Socialist) after another candidate, Ghanendra Basnet, withdrew his candidacy.

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Rajendra Pandey has been elected unopposed as the senior vice-chairman of the CPN (Unified Socialist) after another candidate, Ghanendra Basnet, withdrew his candidacy.


The CPN (Unified Socialist) has a provision for 18 office-bearers. However, currently, there are only three office-bearers: the Chairman, Honorable Leader, and General Secretary.

An election is scheduled to start at 2 PM today to elect 17 office-bearers including vice president, deputy general secretary, secretary, treasurer, and politburo members.


The Unified Socialist has a 344-member Central Committee (CC). The CC members are set to elect the office-bearers and the politburo.


The party's 10th National Convention, which took place from June 30 to July 4, unanimously elected Madhav Kumar Nepal as the Chairman, Jhala Nath Khanal as the Honorable Leader, and Ghanshyam Bhusal as the General Secretary.
