Police arrested BK from a guest house in Sundhara, Kathmandu. He was holed up there disguising himself. He had reportedly escaped while being brought to Kathmandu by the Maoists with whom he was associated with before he allegedly shot dead Thaiba on March 29, 2009.
The CPN-UML had pinpointed BK as the killer of Thaiba. However, the Maoists had denied the charge at first. Later, the Maoists had admitted to BK´a involvement in the killing and and expelled him from the party.
The CPN-UML had been accusing the Maoists of deliberately letting BK run away in the pretext of handing him over to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
