KATHMANDU, July 24: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Friday hinted that the term 'secularism' would be removed from the new constitution.

Talking to journalists at his residence in Balkot, Oli said, "I have heard that a large section of people are against stating the word "secularism" in new constitution," he said. "It can be removed as it didn't sound appropriate."Oli said both positive as well as negative comments were received during the feedback collection process and that significant number of suggestions were positive.

Asked about UML stance on directly-elected executive head in the central government, he said his party had to agree on parliament-elected prime ministerial system for the sake of producing new constitution.

On a different note, Oli said no one can be eligible to become prime minister and president in Nepal immediately after he or she acquires naturalized citizenship. Oli said the new constitution will be promulgated before Teej festival.
