KATHMANDU, April 24: A technical employee, who was recommended for action by the investigation committee’s report formed by the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) for being implicated in the distribution of a fake license, has been transferred to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the constitutional anti-corruption watchdog.

According to a senior employee of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration (MoFAGA), Suraj Prakash Aryal, a computer engineer working in the Ministry of Communication, has been transferred from the Ministry of Communications to the CIAA for three months. Ministry sources said that he has already received the transfer letter on Monday.

It is mentioned in the investigation report that Aryal reached Sashank Basnet who was in jail and handed him a fake license. Basnet has now been released from prison. The investigation committee formed under the coordination of Mukesh Regmi, IT engineer of the DoTM, had recommended action against Aryal.

After the committee submitted its report, Aryal was transferred from the DoTM to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. According to another senior official of the MoFAGA, Aryala was sent to the CIAA after a request from the CIAA. Usually, when transferring employees to the CIAA, MoFAGA sends the individuals based on requests made by the CIAA itself.

It is customary to transfer requested employees in the offices such as the President's Office, Public Service Commission, Prime Minister's Office, National Vigilance Center and the CIAA.

The investigation into the fake license case has now been handed over to the CIAA. An employee from the DoTM expressed concern that the ongoing investigation might be affected by the transfer of an under-scrutiny employee to the CIAA.
