TAPLEJUNG, July 27: A woman died and another person was injured in a road accident in Phawakhola, Taplejung on Sunday.
According to former Deputy Mayor of Phungling Municipality, Bambahadur Bhattarai, the deceased has been identified as Bhawana BK, a teacher at Saraswati Secondary School in Sirijanga Rural Municipality-3, Sikaicha.
Why teachers are important
The vehicle was heading from Phungling to Sikaicha when it veered off the road at Banpala, a location in the former Ward 6 of Phawakhola, and fell 100 meters off the road.
The driver, Sabin Bista of Phawakhola, sustained injuries in the accident. Bhattarai said that other passengers had gotten off the vehicle at their respective destinations, and only BK was left in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Inspector Bivek Basnet, spokesperson at the District Police Office, Taplejung, said a police team was deployed to the accident site as soon as they received the report. Further details are awaited.
