BAITADI, May 5: A teacher has died after getting infected by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Baitadi. According to Yogendra Prasad Batta, chief of the health office of Baitadi, the 44-years old teacher died of the disease at 9:40AM on Wednesday.
Chief doctor, Dr Basanta Raj Joshi of the district hospital stated that the deceased teacher tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and was admitted to the district hospital on Tuesday evening. “The teacher was in an unconscious state when he arrived. We gave him oxygen and he regained his consciousness but we couldn’t save him,” he added.
According to Dr Joshi, the teacher died due to the low blood oxygen level. Earlier, a 32-year old man in Dasharathchand Rural Municipality-9 of Gwallekh from Baitadi died of COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at Dadeldhura Hospital on April 27. So far, five people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Baitadi.
