The new cohort of 45 TFN Fellows were selected out of applications exceeding 500. These Fellows will be teaching Math, English, and Science in different public schools for two years in Sindhupalchowk, Lalitpur and Dhanusa districts.The Fund will support 'scholarship for girl student to pursue higher education, promote science education and sports related activities in public schools'.
Richa Neupane is one of the new TFN Fellows who returned to Nepal recently after completing her studies from the US. "I felt that TFN was the perfect platform to get started when I came back to Nepal so that's why I applied," she said, adding that the experience will provide her with an opportunity to know people and the country in the local level.
During the event, Anita Tamang who was a student at Siddhi Mangal Secondary School spoke about how her life has changed for the better because of the help she received from a TFN Fellow. Despite her childhood struggles, Anita has now been selected to pursue her high school degree from UWC India. She said, "I had never thought that such opportunities would open up for me."
Students of different schools put up performances and exhibitions showcasing the innovative teaching methods applied by TFN Fellows over the years. Students of Bhimsen Secondary School shared their story of perseverance after the devastating earthquake in April last year through a shadow play entirely in English.
Executive Director of Shakti Samuha Sunita Danuwar and Minister of Education Giriraj Mani Pokharel were also present at the event and passed their good wishes to the new cohort.
