KATHMANDU, Sept 13: A group of taxi owners staged a protest by blocking the road with their taxis in Jadibuti, Kathmandu, demanding the government ban ride-sharing apps. The protest began this afternoon.


The taxi owners allege that various ride-sharing apps are forcing passengers into their vehicles and picking up offline passengers, prompting their demonstration.

The blockade halted traffic from Bhaktapur and prevented vehicles from traveling between Kathmandu and Bhaktapur, affecting traffic throughout the Kathmandu Valley.
