KATHMANDU, Feb 17: A taskforce formed to study the problems seen in the delineation of new local units, particularly those in Province 2 and other hilly districts, by the Local Level Restructuring Commission (LLRC), submitted its report to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday, recommending that the number of local units in Province 2 must be increased.
The three-member taskforce led by Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development, Hit Raj Pandey has, however, recommended to the government to return the report to LLRC and ask it to increase the number of local units in the eight districts of Province 2 as per the taskforce's recommendation, according to Minister Pandey.

Minister Pandey also said that the taskforce has recommended to the government to increase the number of local units in Province 2 keeping in view its population density, arrive at a consensus on the reports sent by the district committees to the LLRC and make maximum efforts to address the issues concerning the names, boundaries and other issues of the local units.
After receiving the taskforce's report, Prime Minister Dahal said that the government would study the report before taking decisions on the matter.
The government had given a two-week deadline to the taskforce to study the problems seen in the delineation of new local units and recommend necessary changes to be made in the LLRC report.
