Tamrat meets PM, Koirala

KATHMANDU, March 28: Samuel Tamrat, the director of Asia and Pacific Division of UN Department of Political Affairs, met Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala to discuss the peace process.



Tamrat is on a five-day visit to take stock of Nepal´s peace process and constitution drafting. [break]



Prime Minister´s Foreign Affairs Advisor Milan Tuladhar said that the PM told Tamrat that the government was working hard to complete the peace process and constitution writing within the deadline.



“The PM expressed hope that a consensus will be reached soon on suitable modality for integration of combatants. He also told Tamrat that the differences on constitutional issues have also been considerably narrowed down,” Tuladhar said.



Tamrat, during the meeting, assured the prime minister of UN support on the peace process. He also met Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday.
