Dahal, Tamrat discuss peace process

KATHMANDU,  Aug. 22: Director of the Department of Political Affairs, Asia Pacific Bureau of the United Nations, Samuel Tamrat met UCPN (Maoist) Chairman, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, at the latter´s residence at Nayabazaar on Monday.



During the meeting, Mr Tamrat inquired about the progress in the ongoing peace process and the constitution drafting process.[break]



On the occasion, Dahal apprised Tamrat of the current political situation and formation of consensus government to complete the peace process and remaining works of the new constitution.



Earlier, Tamrat had met Nepali Congress president, Sushil Koirala, on Sunday.



Tamrat is scheduled to meet NC leader, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Minister for Peace and Reconstruction, Pampha Bhusal, and leaders of different Madhes-based political parties later in the day.



The UN official had arrived Saturday on a five-day visit to Nepal.
