KATHAMANDU, March 16: Suman Tamang and Nisma Shrestha have won the ninth edition of MTB Downhill Cycling Championship played at National Martyr and Peace Park in Kathmandu on Friday.
Tamang recorded 1 minute and 20 seconds to complete the race in men’s category to claim the first prize in the cycling event hosted by Nepal Cycling Association. Kunjani Rai and Nirednra Maharjan finished first and second runner-ups taking 10 and 20 seconds respectively more than the winner.
Truck plunges downhill, passengers safe
Similarly, in women’s category for same distance, Shrestha recorded 1 minute and 55 seconds to register the first position finish.
Rojisha Limbu recorded 2 minutes and 28 seconds to finish first runner up followed by Aarati Shrestha who took eight seconds more than Limbu. Niraj Shrestha won the junior championship of same distance taking 1 minute and 18 seconds. A total of 30 cyclists participated in the event.
