KANDAHAR, Afghanistan, Dec 31: The Taliban on Thursday claimed responsibility for a bomb attack in southern Afghanistan that killed five Canadians -- four soldiers and a woman journalist.[break]

"This work is done by us," Yusuf Ahmadi, a purported Taliban spokesman, told AFP from an undisclosed location when asked about the incident.

The five Canadians were killed on Tuesday when a roadside bomb exploded beneath their armoured vehicle in the southeastern militant stronghold of Kandahar province.
