Taekwondo coach Shrestha wins best int’l referee award

KATHMANDU, Nov 10: Taekwondo main coach Nabin Kumar Shrestha has been adjudged the best referee in the Pakistan Open International (G1) Taekwondo Championship.

KATHMANDU, Nov 10: Taekwondo main coach Nabin Kumar Shrestha has been adjudged the best referee in the Pakistan Open International (G1) Taekwondo Championship.


Around 50 people from six nations including Nepal took charge as referees for the competition held in Islamabad from November 6 to 8.

Alongside Shrestha, those who took charge as referees in the match were Ashok Khadka, Min Neupane, Rabindra Malla, Jitsingh Lama, and Deependra Dhakal. 


Earlier, Shrestha also won the best referee award at the Asian Taekwondo Championship held in Jordan in 2019. 


He was the main coach for the Nepali taekwondo team for the 13th South Asian Games (SAG).  Nepal had won 12 gold, six silver, 11 bronze medals in the matches where the taekwondo players contributed the most to the national medal tally. However, Nepal won no medal in the Pakistan Open International.
