Nilhari Bastola elected as TAAN President
Talking to Republica, Sagar Pandey, general secretary of TAAN, said they postponed the AGM and election scheduled for October 2 after tourism workers associated with different political parties padlocked TAAN Secretariat on Sunday evening, demanding compensation to families of trekking workers who lost their life in the blizzards in the Annapurna region caused by Hud Hud cyclone in October last year.
Issuing a statement, TAAN said the association was unable to provide compensation to the workers right now as Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) was yet to release amount collected from Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS). The election will be held before December 21, the release added.
