Submitting a 24-point memorandum to Prime Minister Oli at his residence in Baluwatar on Thursday, a delegation led by TAAN's President Chandra Prasad Rijal requested the Prime Minister to take necessary steps for implementation of the new memorandum of understanding for TIMS that NTB and TAAN signed recently.The umbrella organization of trekking agencies has also asked the government to gradually open restricted areas for foreign trekkers so that locals of the area can get due benefits from tourism.
The delegation urged the executive head of the state to take needful step for lowering permit fee for Upper Dolpa and Upper Mustang to US$100 per person for 10 days.
Among others, TAAN has urged the government to eradicate transport syndicate in various parts of the country, introduce package program, including concessional loans, to revitalize tourism sector hit hard by the April earthquake and Indian blockade, deploy a team of liaison officers in one area instead of sending one liaison officer with every group, and reduce royalty fee of mountain peaks in Nepal.
