Sunsari records four more deaths linked with COVID-19

DHARAN, Oct 19: Sunsari recorded four more deaths linked with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the past one day.


Three coronavirus patients from Dharan Sub-metropolitan city died while staying isolated at home while a coronavirus patient from Itahari died while undergoing treatment at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), according to the local authorities.

A 38-year-old male from Dharan-8 died at his home at 3PM on Sunday. The man, who was first admitted to the BPKIHS after being infected with coronavirus, was brought back home as he insisted the same. The hospital discharged him immediately. Then, he died some time after he was brought back home, according to Sabitri Pariyar, the ward member of Dharan-8.


A man from the Eghara Ghare area of Dharan-8 also died of coronavirus on Monday morning. He was also a kidney patient, according to Ward Member Ram Magar.


Dharan-19 also witnessed a coronavirus-related death on Sunday evening. A 70-year-old female died at 7:15PM while staying isolated at home. She underwent a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test last week and her throat swab sample came positive. Since then, she was staying isolated at her home, according to Umesh Mehta, the chief of health division at Dharan Sub-metropolis.


Likewise, a 78-year-old male patient from Itahari-20 died at the COVID-19 Special Hospital at BPKIHS on Monday morning. He died at 3:15AM today. The man who was admitted to the hospital in early October tested positive for COVID-19 on October 17.
