Chaudhary, 21, who was critically injured in the accident, breathed her last while being rushed to Siliguri for further treatment on the referral of BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, according to Sunsari Police.[break]
Those killed in the accident have been identified as Suk Dev Mandal of Dumraha-9, Sunsari and Lutan Dhami, 13, of Bhadgaun Sinuwari-5; Bishwa Nath Koirala, 60, and his aunt Leela Koirala of Bhadgaun Sinuwari-5; Ambika Basnet, 60, of Fattepur-4, Saptari; Rameshwar Chaudhary of Inaruwa-3, Sunsari; Ram Sharma, 35, of Kanchanpur-3, Saptari; Damanta Karki, 39, of Fattepur; bus driver Prem Kumar Bhujel, 33, of Raghunathpur-3, Saptari; and Devki Chaudhary, 50, of Raipur, Saptari.
More than half of the remaining 61 injured passengers have returned home after treatment.
The accident occurred when a bus heading for Fattepur from Biratnagar (Na 3 Kha 2370) and another heading for Biratnagar from Bhagalpur, Udayapur (Na 2 Kha 3835) collided at Narsingh of Sunsari district along the East-West Highway.
The bus heading for Biratnagar had gone out of control after a tire burst and hit the other bus.
