Students discuss LGBT issues in Intl' Seminar

KATHMANDU, June 26: Students from Budhanilkantha School and Chelsea International Academy participated in a week long seminar on World Affairs from June 14 to 21. The seminar at Carroll University, Wisconsin saw participation of a total of 270 high school students from 22 countries.



The participants discussed and shared their views on ‘Gender Equity/Social Justice: A Moral Imperative for Our Time’. The objective of the seminar was to focus on international conflicts and its causes, keeping in mind that solutions for these problems can be found and used to work out the problem peacefully. Participating students represented their respective countries, and got together to discuss ideas and existing problems.[break]



The team from Nepal presented the efforts of Blue Diamond Society and the progress on LGBT issues in the country. The team also talked about existing Gender-Inequity and the impact of micro-credit lending in rural Nepal, states the press release.



The seminar was an opportunity for international students to learn different new perspectives about world issues from other students and experts.



Sandhya Giri from Budhanilkantha School, Nabin B K, Bibek Maharjan and Saurav Bishwakarma from Chelsea International Academy participated as delegates in the seminar. Aakash Pokharel, a teaching faculty from Chelsea was the chaperone for the group. Dr Sneedha Mainali and Ron Sitoula were counselors at the seminar.
