Strike called off at Hulas Steel, Polymer Industry

BARA, Aug 17: Two more industries in the Birgunj-Pathalaiya corridor resumed after the talks with the agitating trade unions came to a conclusion on Saturday.

After a hiatus of about two weeks, Hulas Steel Industry has resumed its production after the talks between the promoter, Aditya Birkam Dugad, and trade unionists, including Kamal Bhatta signed an agreement on Saturday, according to R P Shrivastav, the company´s account manager.



Shrivastav added, “The agreement includes paying additional Rs 1,000 to the low-paid staff.” The amount is disintegrated with adding Rs 400 to the monthly salary, Rs 100 as grade, Rs 250 for allowance and Rs 250 under other titles.



Those getting higher remuneration will receive only Rs 250 as allowance, and the salary will be increased later, as per the agreement.

Likewise, the Polymer Industry of also resumed on Saturday, informed Sunil Kumar Karna, a Birgunj FNCCI secretariat officer. [break]



Earlier, Hama Iron, Nu plast, Nikon Kv Plasto came into operation following agreements with the agitating trade unions.

However, Aluminum Industry of Hulas, Seven of Trebeni Group, and Hanuman Metal remain shut due to protest launched by the trade unions demanding hike in salary in the ratio implemented by the government for the minimum wage payment.



The government had recently implemented Rs 8,000 as basic salary up from Rs 6,200.

Two weeks ago, some 14 industries in the industrial corridor came to a grinding halt after the trade unions resorted to the pretest demanding salary hike.
