Nepal exports steel rod for the first time to India

KATHMANDU, July 20: The export of steel rod from Nepal has started for the first time to India. Bhairahawa-based Shree Steel has exported a truckload of steel rods through Belhiya customs point on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, July 20: The export of steel rod from Nepal has started for the first time to India. Bhairahawa-based Shree Steel has exported a truckload of steel rods through Belhiya customs point on Wednesday.


According to Rajesh Agarwal, the owner of Shree Steel, a truckload of steel rods of the company was exported to Nautunua, India on Wednesday. He said that he wanted to give a message that steel rods can be exported to India. The price of steel exported by Nepal is competitive with the Indian market at Rs 60 per kg and export worth 2.5 million rupees took place on Wednesday.

Similarly, Agarwal said that exports have started as the government has announced an eight percent subsidy on exports and they are completing the process. 


Agrawal also claimed that Nepali steel should compete only on price in the Indian market as the rods are already excellent in quality.
